Netherlands – Weesp

In Weesp
In Weesp

When I was visiting the Netherlands, I found many lovely towns and as long as the weather was nice I always enjoyed the view of brick houses, canals and … windmills.

This picture was taken in Weesp. It’s not the main tourist attraction, but it has its charm.

Weesp raczej nie jest typow膮 holendersk膮 atrakcj膮 turystyczn膮, ale mo偶na tu si臋 wybra膰 na bardzo mi艂y spacer.

Netherlands – Old windmill

Old windmill in Texel
Old windmill in Texel

Today you can see another windmill, but a bit unusual. Isn’t it funny? I found it while cycling in Texel Island.

Texel is the largest Dutch island, and probably the easiest to reach from Amsterdam. There are a few more islands that belong to the Netherlands, and I can highly recommend to visit at least one of them.

The Netherlands also has islands in the Caribbean, but it’s a different topic, let’s stay for a while in Europe.

To chyba jedyny w swoim rodzaju wiatrak. Znalaz艂am go podczas rowerowej wycieczki po wyspie Texel.

Texel, to najwi臋ksza wyspa holenderska i chyba te偶 naj艂atwiej si臋 tam dosta膰 z Amsterdamu.

Netherlands – Windmills

Windmills in Kinderdijk
Windmills in Kinderdijk

The Netherlands is full of windmills. Some of them are in use, in the other ones are museums or even houses. They are an important and characteristic part of the Dutch landscape. Personally, I think they’re charming, especially “in wild”, together with water, grass, flowers, and cows or sheep. What do you think about windmills?

If you want to see many windmills in the Netherlands, go to Kinderdijk (this photo) or Zaanse Schans.

Wiatraki, s膮 nieroz艂膮cznym elementem holenderskiego krajobrazu.

Je偶eli chcecie zobaczy膰 wiele wiatrak贸w bardzo polecam wycieczk臋 do Kinderdijk (tam zosta艂o zrobione to zdj臋cie), albo do Zaanse Schans.

Netherlands – Bicycles

Cycling in Gouda
Cycling in Gouda

Cycling is an extremely convenient way of transportation in the Netherlands. There are many bicycle paths, and the country is quite flat that makes cycling relatively easy. You just have to get use to that in the cities there are always many cyclists around you. All Dutch people love cycling and have at least one bicycle.

Dzi臋ki ogromnej ilo艣ci 艣cie偶ek rowerowych podr贸偶uje si臋 艂atwo i bezpiecznie, a p艂asko艣膰 terenu jest tu dodatkow膮 zalet膮. Tylko w miastach, szczeg贸lnie w godzinach szczytu, trzeba si臋 przyzwyczai膰, 偶e dooko艂a nas s膮 setki rowerzyst贸w.

Netherlands – Tulips

Tulips in the Netherlands
Tulips in the Netherlands

There are a few products that are associated with the Netherlands, i.e., windmills, cheese, water, canals, van Gogh (do you know how to pronounce his name correctly?), bicycles, orange color (or “Oranjes”), buttermilk and herring (really!) and of course flowers. In spring time, you can cycle along tulip fields, or just visit the famous Keukenhof garden, that is full of colorful flowers.

Jakie macie skojarzenia z Holandi膮? My艣l臋, 偶e ka偶dy m贸g艂by wymieni膰 kilka rzeczy, jak np. wiatraki, ser, woda, rowery, mo偶e ma艣lanka i 艣led藕, a na pewno kwiaty.

Netherlands – Cats

Sleeping on the bench
Sleeping on the bench

Do you like cats? If so, you can easily find many of them on the streets. They aren’t stray cats, they have owners. They just spend all days outside. And many of them like to play.

In the picture is one of my cute ex-neighbors.

p.s.: If you don’t like cats, don’t worry, they won’t bother you.

Lubicie koty? A, one cz臋sto lubi膮 si臋 bawi膰 z turystami.

Na zdj臋ciu jeden z moich by艂ych s膮siad贸w.

Netherlands – “… always take the weather with you…”

Umbrella ?
Umbrella ?

People, in general, tend to complain about almost everything, but the weather is one of the easiest topics. In the Netherlands I’ve learnt that sooner or later it’s going to rain, everyday… So I was enjoying each second of sunshine!

I have to admit there are also some sunny days and umbrella may be not the best solution when the wind is very strong.

Anyway, I find these umbrellas cute. They are blue and withe like traditional porcelain, with typical Dutch patterns.

Ludzie zawsze znajd膮 jaki艣 pow贸d do narzeka艅, a pogoda jest chyba jednym z naj艂atwiejszych temat贸w. Mieszkaj膮c w Holandii, nauczy艂am si臋, 偶e pr臋dzej czy p贸藕niej b臋dzie pada膰, codziennie… Wi臋c trzeba si臋 cieszy膰 ka偶dym promykiem s艂o艅ca!

Musz臋 przyzna膰, 偶e codziennie nie pada艂o, i do艣wiadczy艂am wiele s艂onecznych dni.

Netherlands – Cheese

Cheese in Delft
Cheese in Delft

While being in the Netherlands you have to try Dutch cheese.
There are a few famous cheese-towns in the Netherlands and cheese is delicious.
I’ll back to cheese-topic later on my blog.

This photo was taken in a lovely town Delft, that is famous for blue-white porcelain. When you visit the Netherlands, put this town on your list together with The Hague, they’re nearby and very well connected!

__________________________________________________________

B臋d膮c w Holandii, koniecznie trzeba spr贸bowa膰 pyszny, holenderski ser.

A tymczasem kilka s艂贸w o dzisiejszym zdj臋ciu.

Netherlands – or Holland ?

Sailing
Sailing

This month I’ll show you the Netherlands. It’s a small European country, where I was lucky to live for 3 years. During that time, I visited many lovely towns, castles, islands, and of course windmills.

So what’s the name of this country – Holland or the Netherlands?
Probably the best way to understand it, is to watch this great, short video.
To make the story short – it’s the Netherlands ! However, there are 2 provinces called “South Holland” and “North Holland”, they’re highly populated with important cities like Amsterdam. So no wonder that many people in the Netherlands say that they live in Holland…

I didn’t live in Holland, I lived in the Netherlands.

__________________________________________________________

W tym miesi膮cu chcia艂abym pokaza膰 Wam zdj臋cia z Holandii. W tym czasie, mia艂am wiele okazji do zwiedzania uroczych holenderskich miasteczek, zamk贸w, wysepek i oczywi艣cie wiatrak贸w.

Mam nadziej臋, 偶e zdj臋cia si臋 Wam spodobaj膮, bo Holandia jest uroczym pa艅stwem i ma do zaoferowania znacznie wi臋cej ni偶 tylko Amsterdam.

Argentina – Final impression

Patagonian dogs, Argentina
Patagonian dogs, Argentina

To end this month about Argentina, I want to show you the last picture from Argentine Patagonia. I hope you like this dog and Patagonia, and maybe one day you’ll visit these beautiful places, and at least one glacier!

Maybe you realized, that I didn’t mention yerba mate (which is a kind of tea). I’ll talk about it while showing you my daily impressions of Uruguay. Even Argentines say they don’t drink it as much mate as people in Uruguay.

__________________________________________________________

Mam nadziej臋, 偶e piesek Wam si臋 spodoba艂, a co wa偶niejsze – Patagonia. Mo偶e kt贸rego艣 dnia odwiedzicie te urocze miejsca i przynajmniej jeden z lodowc贸w?

Nawet Argenty艅czycy uwa偶aj膮, 偶e w Urugwaju najwi臋cej si臋 pije mate.
