In each country, there are cities that we can call as ” *something* capital of a given country”.
The same in Estonia, Parnu is Estonia’s summer capital and Tartu is the intellectual capital of Estonia.
The main reason for this nice name is the oldest Estonian university in Tartu. The University of Tartu was established by the Swedish king Gustav II Adolf in 1632.
What’s interesting, in 1919, university courses were first taught in the Estonian language.

W każdym państwie znajdują się miasta, które określamy jako specyficzne stolice tego kraju. Estonia nie wyróżnia się pod tym względem. Parnu (wcześniej pokazane) jest letnią stolicą Estonii, a Tartu jest intelektualną stolicą Estonii.
Głównym powodem takiej ładnej nazwy jest posiadanie najstarszego uniwersytetu w Estonii.
Uniwersytet Tartu został założony przez króla Szwecji Gustawa II Adolfa w 1632 roku.
Z ciekawostek – dopiero w 1919 roku zaczęto tam wykładać w języku estońskim.
