As I gave you yesterday some number, Salar de Uyuni is a huge area. I guess people want to go there to see “salt” (it was in my mind 😉 ), tomorrow I’ll talk about it.
But there are actually many more attractions on Salar de Uyuni. One of them is a train cemetery. It’s just 3 km from Uyuni town and it’s worth to make a stop there.
The railway was built at the end of 19th century to improve transportation system in Bolivia. But it was mostly used to transport minerals. Moreover, it was often sabotaged by the local Aymara indigenous Indians who saw it as an intrusion into their lives. In the 1940s, mining companies collapsed and trains weren’t used any more.

Salar de Uyuni najbardziej słynie z “soli” i większość osób planujących wizytę chce zobaczyć “sól”.
Some train museums and enthusiasts would probably love to get their hands on some of these!!
for sure! 🙂

Thank you! 🙂
I hope it’s just a temporary error…
Hi Maja!
Also your prevoius post has this problem. Maybe, you have to control in your Admin dashboard if the “comments” and “like” sections are turned on at the end of each new article.
Ciao
Sid
Thank you for letting me know, I have to check again some settings.
Your photo looks a bit similar to mine – from Borax Harmony Works in Death Valley … 😉
