Narva is the third largest city in Estonia, however by walking around it’s easy to get an impression that Narva is a small Russian town… Narva is located at the Russian border, so no wonder that Russian language is heard almost everywhere in the town.
The name of Narva has an interesting origin. Have you heard about so-called Narva culture? It’s a very old culture dating back to around 5th millennium BC. And here archeologists found traces of Narva culture thus the city was named Narva.

Narwa to trzecie pod względem wielkości miasto w Estonii, i podobnie jak Tartu i Parnu – łatwo można je zwiedzić pieszo. Będąc w Narwie, miałam wrażenie że spaceruję po małym rosyjskim miasteczku… Narwa położona jest na granicy z Rosją, więc nic dziwnego, że rosyjski język słyszy się prawie wszędzie w mieście.
Nazwa miasta ma ciekawą historię. Czy słyszeliście może o kulturze Narva? To kultura, która istniała już w około 5000 p.n.e.. Jej ślady znaleziono na obecnym terenie miasta, więc na jej cześć Narwa jest Narwą. 😉
