Mercado dos Lavradores, it’s the name of famous farmer’s market in Funchal, the capital of Madeira. Market is opened all days (except Sundays and holidays). It’s nicely located in an old town, so you’ll find it without any problems. Even if you’re not planning to buy anything, I still recommend you to go there and simply enjoy all colors and smells of flowers, fruits, vegetables, spices and herbs. There are also sections with meat and fish, for sure with a different kind of smell. 😉

Mercado dos Lavradores to wielki rynek w Funchal, stolicy Madery. Rynek ten mieści się w ciekawym budynku i jest jedną z atrakcji miasta. Łatwo tam dojść zwiedzając stare miasto Funchal, poza tym rynek jest otwarty całe dnie, z wyjątkiem niedziel i świąt. Nawet jeżeli nie planujecie żadnych zakupów, warto się tam wybrać i nacieszyć zmysły kolorowymi owocami, warzywami, kwiatami, a do tego zapachami rozmaitych przypraw i ziół. W innej części budynku można też nabyć świeże mięso i ryby, ale to chyba gwarantuje mniej przyjemne doznania. 😉
It looks a wonderful market for all fresh produce. It’s like the farmers’ markets we have in the UK. Lovely, colourful photo.

This is perfect – not just the fresh food but the beautiful tiled floor too. Wish we had a farmers’ market that was open every day, at least during the summer.
