Yogyakarta (also called Jogja or Jogjakarta) is my favorite city in Indonesia. It’s located on the Java Island and famous for classical Javanese fine art and culture such as batik (in a few days, I’ll tell you more about it), ballet, drama, music, poetry, and puppet shows. However, I think, it’s very touristic because of the vicinity of 2 wonderful Indonesian attractions: Borobudur and Prambanan temples.
Today’s picture doesn’t show any attractions from Yogyakarta, but it’s on purpose. 🙂 I chose this photo to show you how crazy traffic is in Indonesia. People drive almost without any rules, from each directions, horrible! Maybe that day was even worse than in general, because there was a special event, so you see so many cyclists. Usually, there are millions motorbikes everywhere!

Yogyakarta to moje ulubione indonezyjskie miasto. Znajduje się także na Jawie i uważane jest za centrum kultury i sztuki jawajskiej. Jednak myślę, że rzesze turystów odwiedzają Yogyakartę nie z tego powodu. Yogyakarta jest przede wszystkim najlepszym punktem wypadowym do wspaniałych świątyń Borobudur i Prambanan.
Dzisiejsze zdjęcie umyślnie nie pokazuje żadnych atrakcji Yogyakarty. Wybrałam to zdjęcie aby pokazać jak szalony ruch bywa na indonezyjskich drogach. Kierowcy zdają się nie przestrzegać żadnych zasad i jak widzicie jadą z każdej strony o ile tylko dostrzegą odrobinę miejsca… Tego dnia odbywały się jakieś zawody stąd ogromna ilość rowerzystów, z reguły indonezyjskie drogi są pokryte milionem motorów.

Yes, My grandson rode a motorbike there. He did have one accident, but not serious. He said there simply weren’t any rules and there were police who just stopped people for bribes not offenses. He did like the people though not when driving!

Oh I’ve heard it’s a very popular holiday destination nowadays and the info about the traffic is spread around the world. But despite this drawback it is worth visiting this place.
