In general, I don’t like so much taking pictures of people. But in some places, people are so characteristic and without photographing them visiting is almost not completed. I had this impression in Cuba, not only dressed up people, but also random ones just sitting somewhere, waiting, reading etc.
What about you? Do you like taking pictures of people while traveling?

Uwielbiam podróżować i robić zdjęcia, jednak fotografowanie ludzi nie należy do moich ulubionych. Są pewne miejsca, gdzie ludzie są tak charakterystyczni, że można wręcz powiedzieć, że bez uwiecznienia ich obrazów wizyta nie byłaby kompletna. Takie wrażenie miałam na Kubie stąd chciałam Wam pokazać nie tylko przebrane osoby, ale i zwyczajnych ludzi siedzących gdzieś i czekających lub czytających gazetę.
A Wy, lubicie fotografować ludzi podczas podróży?

Szczerze – jeśli już kogoś fotografuję, to wolę zdjęcia za pozwoleniem. Wówczas wprawdzie – chcę tego czy nie – są to zdjęcia pozowane, ale przynajmniej wiem, że osoba fotografowana chciała zostać uwieczniona. Pewnie dlatego na WDF nie trójkę z Harry’ego Pottera uwieczniłam tylko od tyłu, chociaż tak fajnie wyglądali 😉
Ale zdjęcie piękne. Lubię patrzeć na twarze starych ludzi, takie naturalne, bez upiększeń.

Myśle, że z tego właśnie powodu nie bardzo lubię fotografować ludzi. Czasem pytam o zgodę, szczególnie w pewnych krajach albo sytuacjach, ale też lubię te zdjęcia z daleka, czy z ukrycia, bo są prawdziwsze…
I oczywiście zdjęć “bez zgody” nie używałabym w konkursie czy w celu zarobkowym!
I do that with care and in many instances, I ask first before I take the picture. But for street musicians and dancers, acrobatic scenes, I shoot. When in doubt, I use my telephoto lens and as far away possible. Good luck to you.

I often prefer not to ask, to not destroy the moment; but in some situations or countries I always ask for a permission.
Mnie się to zdjęcie podoba. Chociaż… ja jednak nie chciałabym być fotografowana bez mojej wiedzy, więc komuś też tego nie robię.
Dziękuję! I dokładnie rozumiem co masz na myśli. Ale wydaje mi się, że zdjęcia nie są obraźliwe i przedstawieni ludzie wyglądają dobrze. Mam np. zdjęcie policjantki z Hawany, która wygląda jak prostytutka, i z tego też względu nie umieszczam tego na blogu…
Nie, na pewno nie są obraźliwe. Lubię patrzeć na takie zdjęcia.
A tak przy okazji, jutro podobno jest Dzień Wiedzy o Pingwinach, to trochę jakby o Tobie. 😉

People in a photo gallery do give a more complete view of a place, since it is almost impossible to go somewhere without their presence :-). In my case I do enjoy observing random people in places, but with taking pictures of them I feel more uncomfortable. I am usually to shy to ask and it does not feel right to start shooting without their approval. On the other hand if they are aware they start posing and the photo loses its natural charms, so sometimes I cannot resist 🙂
I totally agree and understand you! It’s always a bit difficult… Sometimes I ask, mostly when it’s about children or in some countries, but I also don’t want to ruin the moment…

I’d often like to take pictures of people on the streets, but i don’t want to invade their privacy so I don’t. But I like looking at them – both in the moment and in other people’s photos. Great shot!

I generally stick to taking photos of views, but sometimes, people going about their everyday pursuits can help to show so much more about what the country is really like. 🙂
That’s so true! When I started traveling, my parents were always asking me why there are no people in my pictures 😀 I changed this, but only a little bit 🙂

Ja uwielbiam fotografować Włochów, zwłaszcza starsze osoby, mają w sobie tyle prostoty i szczerości, że aż mnie to wzrusza:)
pamietam wielu “starszych panów” z Sardynii, siedzących, rozmawiających, często ciekawy kapelusz na głowie… 🙂
I do like taking photos of people when I travel, but I try not to be intrusive. Like you said, sometimes you see a person that captures the essence of a place you’re visiting. In that case, it’s hard NOT to take a photo of them. 🙂

I found I wanted to do this in Italy. The locals seemed so colorful and relaxed to me, and almost anywhere they were sitting made a nice picture. Like the one of this man. It just makes you wonder what he is thinking about.
