Antananarivo is the largest city in Madagascar and its capital. The name is quite long and complicated, so no wonder that locals usually refer to it as “Tana”.
In Tana you can find busy, crowded streets together with nice green fields and cattle, like in the picture.

Antananarywa jest największym miastem na Madagaskarze i jednocześnie jego stolicą. Nazwa wydaje się dość długa i skomplikowana, więc nic dziwnego, że na Madagaskarze mówi się po prostu “Tana”.
W Tanie, zatłoczone ulice mieszają się z polami uprawnymi i bydłem. Centrum miasta mnie nie zachwyciło, ale to zielone miejsce wygląda ciekawie. 🙂
Interesting how the fields are divided. Is this to control water? It doesn’t look high enough to limit the range of the cattle.
That’s true, they don’t look high enough, but cattle is so precious in Madagascar so I’m sure they have their own way of protecting them.
Hi Maja, you are certainly an adventurous person. Hope one day I can travel and take a small camera and capture the beauty of nature. Just curious by the way, what language is the one not written in English?

Pamiętam jak w szkole średniej musiałam nauczyć się stolic państw na świecie. Z krajów afrykańskich nie miałam problemu ze stolicą Madagaskaru. Dało się ją zapamiętać, bo w każdej sylabie jest samogłoska. Trudniej było zapamiętać nazwy miast, gdzie obok siebie występują spółgłoski np. stolica Mauretanii – Nawakszut, Czadu – Ndżamena, czy Suazi – Mbabane
