Madagascar – Malagasy girl

I guess, you can see some spots on that girl’s face. It’s a sun protecting wood paste, mostly women and children use it as a cream. Actually, it’s used in many places in Africa or Asia.

    1. That’s true, they also do; somehow I thought it’s a girl, maybe I should change it to “child”…

  2. Good to know they have something to protect themselves. If it works it is probably better to have something natural than all the chemical sunscreens we have. Especially for the environment. I just found out recently that the oils in most sunscreens are very detrimental to coral and have gotten some natural eco-friendly coral safe sunscreen for my upcoming Caribbean cruise. Coral has enough problems these days without the people who come to look at it doing it harm.

    1. Thank you for your comment! It’s very interesting and actually so many sad aspects concerning the reef…

  3. The little girl/child is very sweet, and it’s interesting to know they do protect themselves against skin damage. I would have thought it was a girl, too, because it looks like a shirt she/he’s wearing.
