To continue my post from yesterday; I had a chance to visit different parts of the United Kingdom during all seasons. Each time may be charming, each time may be dark and rainy.
My favorite seasons for visiting the United Kingdom is spring or early autumn, but some places may be more convenient during summer.
England has a maritime climate with relatively mild temperatures, i.e., it’s usually not hot in summer, neither very cold in winter. But, it may rain a lot.
The pictures I show you, were mostly taken in January and a few in December. Some of them may look like sunny, summer photos, but mostly like autumn cloudy ones. Well, it’s like it is… 🙂
Welcome to England!
Yes, that’s correct, this month is not going to be about the entire country i.e., the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, but “only” about England – the country in the country.
There are so many differences between all countries, islands etc. within the United Kingdom, so I decided to have a separate month about each of them that I’ve visited.
Today, the last picture from the small island country.
How did you like this month on my blog?
Have you been to Singapore or are you planning to visit it?
Tomorrow, we’ll go to a … nice, rainy place. 😉
You can also use Singapore as a base to explore nearby countries, e.g., Malaysia or Indonesia.
Singapore had also other names in past, e.g., “island at the end of a peninsula” or “sea town”.
There is a children’s song “Singapura, Oh Singapura”.
“Singapura” is another name of Singapur, and comes from the words “Lion Head”, “simha” is lion and “pura” means city.
My favorite way of visiting Singapore was by boat.
Highly recommended! 🙂
While being on the island, you can enjoy the view of Singapore city;
I actually, liked to look at the modern city more from “outside”, than from “inside”. 😉
Singapore consists of many islands,
mentioned yesterday Kusu Island is only one of them.
Kusu Island (Tortoise Island) is a lovely place for a day trip
(unfortunately, staying overnight is not allowed).
Marina Bay Sands is a famous resort in Singapore,
that’s almost a symbol of the city.
The lion head (today’s picture) is a symbol of Singapore;
and Singapore is even called as a Lion City.
Singapore has its own special rules,
e.g., chewing gum was forbidden in Singapore, but later some exceptions were added.
Cycling is allowed, but as you see, not everywhere.
In Singapore, you’ll see buildings under contraction,
the city is still growing and getting more and more modern.
I heard someone comparing Singapore with New York,
but you cannot really compare them.
New York is rather old, Singapore is rather new; they are different.
Do you agree?
Singapore is rather known as a modern city with many skyscrapers.
But there are also green areas and parks, so it’s not so bad.
As I already mentioned, I don’t like zoos, but sometimes, while traveling, I visit a zoo, especially if they have some typical animals for a given place.
The zoo in Sinapore was big and looked quite good.
Men of the forest, i.e., orangutans (orang utans), can be seen in Singapore, but only in a zoo.
I’m rather against zoos, but the one in Singapore was quite nice.
