Estonia – Open Air Museum

Open Air Museum, Estonia
Open Air Museum, Estonia

The Open Air Museum at Rocca al Mare, nearby Tallinn (in Estonian: Eesti Vaba玫humuuseum), presents a life of an 18th-century village. It covers 79 hectares of land and contains over 70 buildings – houses, mills, farmyards, church, inn, school etc.

It’s a very nice place where you can spend a relaxing day.
You can even try some traditional dishes and watch some performances.

Skansen Rocca al Mare (po esto艅sku: Eesti Vabashumuuseum) pokazuje 偶ycie Esto艅czyk贸w w XVIII wieku.
Na 79 ha powierzchni znajdziemy ponad 70 budynk贸w – chaty, m艂yny, ko艣ci贸艂, szko艂臋 itp.

Estonia – Outside the Old Town Tallinn

Open Air Museum, Estonia
Open Air Museum, Estonia

If you’re staying a bit longer in Tallinn, visit also some places outside the old town.
The most interesting are: an imperial Russian summer residence called Kadriorg Palace, Tallinn Botanical Gardens in Pirita, P玫hja-Tallinn with nice wooden buildings, KGB prison and maritime museum Seaplane Harbour and the Estonian Open Air Museum – Rocca al Mare (today’s picture).

You’ll also find sandy beaches quite nearby.

Je偶eli b臋dziecie mie膰 troch臋 wi臋cej czasu w Tallinnie, warto te偶 odwiedzi膰 kilka miejsc poza starym miastek. Jedne z najciekawszych to rosyjski letni pa艂ac Kadriorg, ogr贸d botaniczny Pirita, P玫hja-Tallinn z drewnianymi domkami, wi臋zieniem KGB i muzeum Seaplane Harbour oraz skansen Rocca al Mare (dzisiejsze zdj臋cie).

Bardzo blisko znajduj膮 si臋 r贸wnie偶 piaszczyste pla偶e 鈥 dla ka偶dego co艣 ciekawego.

Estonia – Medieval Tallinn

Tallinn, Estonia
Tallinn, Estonia

The Old Town of Tallinn is one of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe and it’s listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Take a long, slow walk and look carefully at all buildings, they are beautiful!

Bardzo Was zach臋cam do d艂ugiego spaceru po starym mie艣cie!

Estonia – Visiting Tallinn

Tallinn, Estonia
Tallinn, Estonia

Tallinn has a lovely old town where you can easily spend a few busy days walking around and enjoying each corner. You can explore it on foot, however the old town is divided into a lower town and Toompea hill so you need to climb a bit when you want to see all wonderful places in Tallinn, thus good walking shoes are really recommended.

A few of Tallinn’s attractions you can see in today’s picture, e.g., towers of the great city walls.

Tallinn mo偶e si臋 poszczyci膰 wyj膮tkowo pi臋knym starym miastem. Je偶eli wybieracie si臋 do stolicy Estonii zaplanujcie sobie kilka dni na zwiedzanie wszystkich zakamark贸w starego miasta. I koniecznie zabierzcie ze sob膮 wygodne buty gdy偶 cz臋艣膰 atrakcji znajduje si臋 na wzg贸rzu.

Dzisiejsze zdj臋cie przedstawia fragment starego miasta Tallinn.

Estonia – Tourism in Tallinn

Tallinn, Estonia
Tallinn, Estonia

Tallinn is a very touristic city. Especially in summer there are crowds of visitors almost everywhere in the old town, and lots of museums, galleries and also hotels, restaurants or souvenir shops are opened for them. I hope that Tallinn will not lose its charm because of that…

__________________________________________________________

Szczeg贸lnie latem tury艣ci s膮 w prawie ka偶dym zak膮tku starego miasta i to g艂贸wnie dla nich istnieje ogrom hoteli, restauracji i sklep贸w z pami膮tkami.

Estonia – Tallinn

Tallinn, Estonia
Tallinn, Estonia

Tallinn is the capital and largest city of Estonia with over 400,000 citizens.
It’s a bit difficult to determine the beginning of Tallinn’s history.
The earliest human settlements are probably over 5,000 years old, but Tallinn city was founded in the 13th century. There was also a period when the city was called Reval.

Tallinn, definitely, is the most beautiful Estonian city!
I was enjoying every single minute I spent in Tallinn, well, in its old town.
And I’m sure that everyone who visited Tallinn confirms that it’s beautiful!

__________________________________________________________

Tallinn jest stolic膮 Estonii i najwi臋kszym jej miastem; liczy ponad 400,000 mieszka艅c贸w.

Tallinn jest zdecydowanie najpi臋kniejszym miastem w Estonii!

Estonia – Lenin in Narva

Narva, Estonia
Narva, Estonia

I guess, I’m not the only one who was surprised by seeing a statue of Lenin at the Narva Castle in Estonia. Well, the statue is quite hidden, but it’s still there.
I heard that this statue was kept because soviet occupation is a part of the Estonian history.

__________________________________________________________

Znaj膮c troch臋 histori臋 Estonii, a przede wszystkim wiedz膮c o okupacji sowieckiej, zdziwi艂o mnie, 偶e w Narwie stoi pomnik Lenina!
Podobno zostawiono ten pomnik w Narwie, gdy偶 okupacja sowiecka jest cz臋艣ci膮 esto艅skiej historii.

Estonia – Narva – “Soviet memories”

Narva, Estonia
Narva, Estonia

I already mentioned before that because of the Soviet occupation some years ago, there are many Russians living in Estonia (about 25% of the total population). In regions nearby Russian boarder, e.g. in Narva, there are even about 94% of Russian-speakers (originating from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine), and many of them don’t speak Estonian at all!

__________________________________________________________

Ju偶 wcze艣niej wspomnia艂am, 偶e z powodu ca艂kiem niedawnej okupacji sowieckiej i rusyfikacji Estonii, obecnie Rosjanie stanowi膮 oko艂o 25% ca艂kowitej populacji.

Estonia – nearby Narva – Ivangorod Fortress

Ivangorod Fortress
Ivangorod Fortress

This impressive fortress is not exactly in Narva (Estonia), but just across the river, in Russia.
It’s possible to get there only if you have a Russian visa, but from Narva you can enjoy its view.

This fortress was founded by Ivan III (in 1492), so it’s called Ivangorod Fortress.

__________________________________________________________

Aby wjecha膰 na teren Rosji potrzebna jest nam wiza, wi臋c zwiedzanie mo偶e by膰 utrudnione. Jednak widok z Narwy jest imponuj膮cy i mi wystarczy艂.
