Unfortunately, Thailand is famous for e.g., elephants.
I wrote unfortunately, because many places with animals in Thailand are of quite poor quality, and it’s very sad they exist, and poor animals have to be there.
Of course, you can also find a place own by people who love nature and animals and treat them well; but it’s a challenging task to find this kind of place in Thailand…

Thailand – Waterfalls
In Thailand, especially in Thai mountains, you’ll find some nice waterfalls.
Thailand – Mountains
I remember a long time ago, my dentist said that one of his friends considers mountains in Thailand as the most beautiful mountains in the world. Of course, it’s a very subjective opinion. I’m in love with Patagonia, but the point is, Thailand is not only country with islands and beaches; there are also mountains with the highest peak of 2,565 m above sea level.
Thailand – Geysers nearby Chiang Mai
Geysers nearby Chiang MaOn today’s picture you can see a small geyser, protected with a fence.
There are some hot springs and geysers in Chiang Mai province‎.
As in similar places around the world, locals boil eggs “in the geyser” and sell them to tourists. 🙂
Thailand – Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai, with its nearby attractions, is one of the most interesting places for tourists in Thailand.
Of course, foreigners go to Bangkok or islands and it’s also fine, but I think Chiang Mai offers much more.
Thailand – Bridge on the River Kwai
“Bridge on the River Kwai” is a title of a fictional British-American war film, that was based on the novel by Pierre Boulle.
It has a very characteristic song that’s whistled in a movie several times.
You can see that bridge in Thailand.
Well, it may be nothing special, but I remember this song from my childhood, because my father was whistling it very often, so I really wanted to see that bridge. 🙂
Thailand – Thai Cuisine
A visit to the floating market can be a great “food experience”. In general, many people like Thai cuisine. And among the variety of dishes, everyone should be able to find something delicious.
Thailand – Everything on the Floating Markets
What can you find on the floating markets in Thailand?
-Well, almost everything. It’s mostly about food, but I’ve seen there lots of strange items (e.g., huge paintings for tourists) or snakes…
Thailand – Floating Market
Visiting floating markets is one of a must-do while being in Thailand.
Even it’s something very touristic, it’s still an interesting experience to see the market located on the boats, while being on a boat.
Thailand – Chiang Rai
Chiang Rai has a few tourist attractions, but I still recommend to focus just on the White Temple (Wat Rong Khun). Well, some people may say it’s a beautiful temple, but “creepy” is also a good description.
Anyway, it’s something unique and worth visiting.
Thailand – Chiang Rai Temple
Chiang Rai is a large city in the north of Thailand. But, it’s mostly famous for the White Temple (Wat Rong Khun)
that is actually located quite outside the city.
When I’ve seen the temple in the pictures, some time before going to Thailand, I thought: “I want to see this fairy tale temple”.
Thailand – Cats
There are many cats on streets in Bangkok.
In some temples they even wear some clothes, however cats are usually not happy because of that…
Thailand – Be Aware of Pickpockets
In today’s picture, I show you a sign that can be found in many temples in Thailand.
Just keep it in mind and be aware!
Thailand – Poor Birds
In some Thai temples, I’ve seen something really upsetting;
I understand it may be part of culture, history or religion, but I still don’t like this idea.
So, there are people selling you birds in cages. When you buy a bird and release it “you will have goodluck and happiness in your life forever” (original writing).
The point is those birds have on purpose broken wings or kind of injuries, so they cannot fly too far. And after “you give the freedom to birds”, the seller will catch them again and sell to another person, and so on!
Thailand – Kickboxing
Thai boxing is a local version of kickboxing, and it’s the most important sport in Thailand.
Thailand – Not Always Happy
When I was visiting Thailand, there were lots of demonstrations in Bangkok, because people weren’t happy with the current political situation.
Tourists in general, should avoid places of demonstrations, because you never know how violent it’s going to be. Nothing bad happened to me, but it was sad to observe all these people.
Thailand – Bangkok
Bangkok is officially named “Krung Thep Maha Nakhon”.
It’s a capital since 1782.
These days, it’s a large, tropical city with many different districts, and two huge airports (that sometimes causes confusion).
Yesterday, I showed you a typical picture of one of the temples in Bangkok; for today, I chose rather not so typical image of the city, however I like it. 🙂
Thailand – Golden Capital
Bangkok is the largest city and the capital of Thailand.
It’s crowded, very diverse, and full of golden temples, that’s why I wrote it’s a “Golden Capital”.
Thailand – Flag
The flag of Thailand has five horizontal stripes in the colors red, white, blue, white and red.
The colors apparently represent the blood of life (red), the purity of the Buddhist faith (white), and the monarchy (blue.)
The flag looks like that since 1917.
Thailand – Land of Smiles
Thailand is sometimes called as “Land of Smiles”, however I could easily find other countries that should rather have this nick name.
